About Us - Order
Our movement began when we were all in high school about 100 years ago. But back then we weren't all together yet. Dave and chris were coming from the comedy side of life, making skits for the local high school t.v. station, WBUC. Jackass before jackass if you will, they ran 3 seasons, one under the name "Rastamen" and the last two seasons were "the punks". At the time we were filming "the punks" we began incorporating more skateboarding into the skits and that is were we met up with Bruce and Justin. Bruce and Justin came from the skateboarding side of life, they were apart of the first skateshop in oswego, Jer?s Skate Place, which also formed the first skate team in the area. At one time there were over 30 skaters in oswego, i know it doesn’t sound like many but remember this is oswego we are talking about, but by the time we connected with them there were about 5 skaters left. Fall of 1993 Was the year that we decided to make a full length skate/snowboard video and we proudly called it Dave james skateboards. Our first team consisted of Bruce, Justin, Chris, Jordan, Dave, Trevor. We put out a video entitled "Highflyers" aka "suckapops" june 1994 and it premiered to 10 people at trevor’s house. Fall of 1994 We all split to different cities for college, but agreed to begin filming for another video. We began to spread out and meet more riders that were down for the cause. It was at this time we realized that we might be on to something. the only skate videos coming out were from mainstream skate companies and if we exposed this underground scene then maybe we as a company could break through and level the playing field. With this next video it took a little over to 2 years to film and we were filming about 20 or so skaters and traveling a lot more. Our 2nd video "5th quarter all-stars premiered June 1996. Fall of 1996 After 2 videos and our reputation started picking up we decided to take a leap and re-name the company and start producing clothing. So we created "Partner cloth". coming upon our 3rd video we started to focus on crews in different cities, such as buffalo, rochester and Nyc. The partner video premiered in January 1998. Summer of 1998 When we were filming down in nyc we met rodriguez who own 5boro skateboards. After the "partner" video dropped we were asked to film the next "5boro" video so we spent a summer filming and the Fire It Up video came out in August 1998 Fall of 1998 When we returned from NYC it was clear what our next move was. We were all back in oswego and We wanted to make an even bigger mark on upstate skateboarding so we decided to change the name again, produce skateboards and start forming a team and with that "the movement" was born. We started working on our 4th video and we focused on three riders; Casey, Bruce, and Sean. Takeover premiered in January 2000. We had two major premieres one, in Oswego and the other in Rochester, which ended up opening the doors welcoming Movement into a growing scene in Rochester. Fall of 2000 Unfortunately, we ended up in 4 different cities after the video but Even so we kept the fire burning. We were making strides; we had a solid video, boards, clothing and we started filming for our 5th video. A few years laters Bruce came back to Oswego and started a skate shop/park, Red Planet. We premiered "Working Class" in the spring of 2003. Once again 2 premieres, one at Red Planet and the other at a local theatre in Rochester Little Theatre. We worked at keeping Movement alive for the next few years, but everyone was focusing on more personal stuff so "movement" took an unfortunate, but well needed back seat. Summer of 2005 Movement launched a tour with the help of all the skateshops in Upstate NY and after our 6th video Vagabond premiere fall 2005 we decided to dig our heels back in and with a re-design by Erich, local artists and a new team Movement was right back in the game. Our motto has always been, if everything ended tomorrow we would have no regrets, Life is too short to take it things to seriously So join our movement and spread the word today Individuality, Freedom, Movement Email movementdesign@gmail.com for questions or inquiries!
